What contradictions between Tecumseh's alliance and soldiers and settlers in the Old North-west reveal? Can you suggest solutions to them?

They sign treaties for peaceful trades only to do hostilities with them afterward.
I believe the best solution for both group would happen if they understood each other's situation. The soldiers did not need to provide hostility just to proof how tough they are, but they should negotiate and came down with a fair price that worked for both parties.
