Costs for a party

Part A: set up fee

We know that the total cost for a party of 65 people is $601.50.

One part corresponds to the cost for 65 people ($8.50 per person) and the other to the set-up fee.

We want to know how much of the $601.50 corresponds to the setp-up fee:

Since there were 65 people, then the flat fee cost is

$8.50 x 65 = $552.50

Then, the set up fee is

$601.50 - $552.50 = $49

Answer: the set up fee is $49

Part B: party of 150 people

This part is similar as the previous.

We know that the set up fee is $49, and there are 150 people. We want to know the total cost for the party:

We know that the cost for 150 people is

$8.50 x 150 = $1,275

Then, the total cost is

$1,275 + $49 = $1,324

Answer: the cost of a party of 150 people is $1,324
