We know that ABE and CDE are congruent by the postulate "hypotenuse-leg" (HL).

This means we have two triangles that are right triangles, and have one leg and the hypotenuse of the same length.

As the two triangles are congruent, the three sides are congruent so we can add to the list the equality:


\bar{BE}\cong\bar{DE}

Answer: the additional information is that "segment BE is congruent with segment DE".
