Please answer if you know the correct one!! Read the following passage and answer the question.

""The heart inside him growled low with rage,
as a dog mounting over her weak, defenseless puppies
growls, facing a stranger, bristling for a showdown—
so he growled from his depths, hackles rising at their outrage."

This is an example of which epic convention?

lengthy speech
digression
epic simile
invocation

That excerpt would be an example of an epic simile.

This is because the excerpt is comparing the character's rage to a dog defending her pups.

Epic similes compare one action or thing to another more familiar action or thing.

Here's a clue you can look for that most epic similes contain: "so________", so he did that, so the monster growled, so she screamed etc... you get the picture.

They are usually found in epics and are often lengthy descriptions that add decoration or effect.

So, an epic simile wouldn't be something like this: He ran like a cheetah.
That would be just a normal simile.

What does epic sound like? Something impressive or remarkable, so an epic simile is a really awesome simile.
