By 9pm Friday night, a restaurant had sold 200 entrées, 50 of which were steak than on any other entrée, so they want steak to represent at least 50% of their total number of entrées sold. If they sell no additional other types of entrées, what is the minimum number of steak entrées that the restaurant must sell in order to reach their goal?

Let us assume that the other entries sold as at 9pm is x

This gives the number of steak sold up to that time as x+50

Let's find x.

\begin{gathered} x+(x+50)=200 \\ 2x+50=200 \\ \text{Subtracting 50 from both sides gives us:} \\ 2x+50-50=200-50 \\ 2x=150 \\ \text{Dividing both sides by 2 gives} \\ (2x)/(2)=(150)/(2) \\ x=75 \\ (x+50)=125 \end{gathered}

Total steak sold that is greater than 50% of total entrées sold is 125.
