Describe in detail how you would create a number line with the following points: 3, 2.25, the opposite of 4, and − (−1 1/2  ). Please be sure to describe on which tick marks each point is plotted and how many tick marks are between each integer. It may help for you to draw this number line by hand on a sheet of paper first.

Points:

3

2.25

opposite of 4 = - 4

-(-1(1)/(2))=1.5

the opposite of a number is the result of that number multiply by -1

The, the opposite of 4 is (4(-1))= - 4

To put the points in a number line, you have to organize the numbers from less to greatest

The mixed numer can be writen also as: negative One and 1/2 is equal to - -1.5, negative per negative is +

-(-1(1)/(2))=-(-1.5)=1,5

Then you have the next order from less to greatest:

-4

-(-1 1/2)

2.25

3

To put that point in a number line you need to choose a scale to tick marks: As you have decimal number, the scale could be 0.5.

You have the next number line:

Then the point will be:

Between each interger you have a tick mark in the middle: Betwwen 0 and 1 you have 0.5, between 1 and 2 you have 1.5, etc.
