Like abolishing the slave trade in 1842 and using the Royal Navy to enforce that ban ? Oh and it was the British government by then. Funny how we never had slaves here - isn't it ?

The policies of the English government encouraged slavery. In 1672 King Charles II granted a charter to the Royal African Company to start a slave trade.
