Hello! Here is a real world problem that could work:

Jennie currently has $5 in her allowance. For every time she helps cook dinner, she earns $2. Jennie wants to buy an art set that costs $23, before tax. How many times would she have to help with dinner, before she could buy the art set?

How to solve it:

Okay. $5 is the fixed amount (one-time price), and Jennie earns $2 each time she helps cook dinner. First, let's subtract 5 from both sides in order to get 2x > 18. Now, divide each side by 2 to isolate the "x". 18/2 = 9. x > 9.There. Jennie would have to help cook dinner 9 times, before she has $23, but we are looking for greater than, so she would have to help 10 times, before she had enough money to buy the art set.
