Answer: AVID tutorials is a group of students helping solve and discuss a singular problem or question a student out of the group has while a Socratic Seminar is a formal discussion in which a topic or open ended question is chosen for the students to articulate their own opinions and hear other classmates opinions on the same matter too. They are similar because of the student group aspect.

A Socratic Seminar is a method to try to understand information by creating a dialectic class in regards to a specific text. In a Socratic Seminar, participants seek deeper understanding complex ideas in the text through rigorously thoughtful dialogue. This process encourages divergent thinking rather than convergent.

AVID, an acronym for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an "untracking" program designed to help underachieving students with high academic potential prepare for entrance to colleges and universities.
