The nurse should be looking for aspiration pneumonia, dehydration, and weight loss. These are all conditions associated with having the difficulty to swallow due to a perceived lack of strength in the associated muscles that comes with myasthenia gravis. Being unable to swallow can lead to a lack of nutrient intake, which can then lead to weight loss and dehydration from getting too few of those nutrients.
