Given the balanced equation representing a reaction : 2Na(s) + Cl2 9g0 -> 2NaCl(s) + energy

If 46 grams of Na and 71 grams of Cl2 react completely, what is the total mass of NaCl produced?

The answer to this question would be: 117g

The total mass of the product of a chemical reaction would be same as the total mass of the reactant. In this question, the reactant is Natrium and Chloride. The product would be NaCl. To answer this question, you just need to add the mass of the natrium and the chloride since they react completely. The result would be: 46g+ 71g= 117g
You can also solve it by calculating the amount of the subtract in mol and then put it in the reaction. You will find that the product will be 2 mol of NaCl which weight 58.5g/mol
