The volume of a cylinder of any shape (not only the circular cylinder) can be calculated using the formula:


V=A\cdot L

Where A is the area of the cross-section, and L is the length (or height). Then, from the figure, we know that:


\begin{gathered} A=42\operatorname{cm}^2 \\ L=42\operatorname{cm} \end{gathered}

The volume of the figure is:


\begin{gathered} V=42\operatorname{cm}^2\cdot42\operatorname{cm} \\ \therefore V=1764\operatorname{cm}^3 \end{gathered}
