Why is it colder in polar regions?

because they are located on the polar opposites of earth. if i were to draw a sphere of earth for you, the bottom you could not see. if you were the sun, could you look straight at the two polar ends of the earth? i think not. ultraviolet rays don't even travel as much down there when earth spins on its regular axis

Those areas are the coldest because there are the farthest away from the equator.
