Actually, If you put x=24 the answer wouldn't be 12 like the equation, but if put x=28 in the problem: 3/4 * (28-12) it WILL equal 12 just like the equation says. Same thing with y, if you put y=24 in the equation it wouldn't equal 12 like said it would. Now, using PEMDAS, x=32 we can solve the equation. 3/4 * 32-12=12.

To make short, the answer of

Equation 1:

x=28

Equation 2:

y=32

The value of x is 24 because 24-12=12
I worked it out by doing the opposite so by doing 12+12
Then the value of y is also 24 and I used the same method
