Emily has 32 grams of a 25% sugar syrup, but this is just too sweet for her! How much pure water should she add to have a 10% syrup?

Mass of sugar = 32 g
Let m = mass of water for a 25% sugar syrup.
Then

(32 \, g)/(m \, g) =25\% = 0.25 \\ m= (32)/(0.25) =128 \, g

To have 10% sugar syrup, let x grams of water be added.
Then

(32)/(128+x) =10\% = 0.1 \\ 0.1(128+x) = 32 \\ 12.8 + 0.1x = 32 \\ 0.1x = 19.2 \\ x = 192 \, g

Answer: 192 g of water.
