A banquet caterer has 4636 dishes of the same pattern in inventory. If there are 7 dishes per place setting, how many place settings does the caterer have ? Can someone please explain how to solve this.

Hi. In order to solve this, we simply need to divide. Let's start with what we know.

The caterer has 4,636 dishes
There are 7 dishes per place setting

To find out how many place settings there are, we divide 7 into 4,636, which gives us 662 with a remainder of 2.

I am attaching an image so you can see how it is worked out.

I hope it helps.

Take care,
Diana
