Each morning Papa notes the birds feeding on his bird feeder. So far this month, he has seen 59 blue jays, 68 black crows, 12 red robins, and 1 cardinal.
If 300 birds visit Papa'S bird feeder, how many blue jays can he expect to see?

59 blue jays, 68 black crows, 12 red robins, 1 cardinal....total of 140 birds
there were 59 blue jays spotted...

59/140 = x / 300...59 jays to 140 birds = x jays to 300 birds
cross multiply
(140)(x) = (300)(59)
140x = 17700
x = 17700/140
x = 126.42...rounds to 126 blue jays <==
