The answer to this question would be: Use the medication for at least 1 week after the symptoms have cleared

The topical clotrimazole is only used in the infected area, not all of the body. It should be applied twice a day for several weeks. Sunlight won't do anything to the drug absorption.
The drug is killing the fungi, so it should be continued for the duration of the prescription to prevent resistance.
