the x axis is horizontal line.....a horizontal line has a slope of 0. A parallel line will have the same slope.
A horizontal line is represented by x = a number...with that number being the y coordinate of ur points. So ur parallel equation is : y = 5.....but we need it in standard form.....0x + y = 5

Answer:

Equation of line passing through the point (a,b) and having slope m is given by :

(y-b)/(x-a)=m

Equation of X axis is , y = 0

i.e slope , m= 0

Any line parallel to x axis have slope = 0

Equation of line passing through the point (1,5) and parallel to X axis is given by :

→ y - 5 = m( x -1)

As , m=0

→ y -5 = 0× (x-1)

→ y- 5= 0

y = 5 [ Final Answer]
