The unit price of watermelon is

$2.40
--------- = $0.40/lb.
6 lb

The discounted price of the watermelon would be (1.00-0.30)($0.40)

= 0.70($0.40) = $0.28/lb

That equation would look like this:

2.4 - 2.4 * .3 = p

p = price
