Dr. King was sent to solitary confinement in Birmingham Jail from leading peaceful protests against the unfair treatment of black at the time. Dr. King's letter was addressed mainly to the clergymen. In his letter, he addresses the attacks, racism, and how the clergy and churches have not been supporting him. One clergyman claimed that his movement was untimely and unruly. King responded by saying that no matter when their movement started, it would always be viewed as untimely.
Hope this helps!
