First equation:
2x + 3y = 7

subtract 3y from both sides

2x = 7 - 3y

divide both sides by 2

x = 7 - 3y over 2

Second equation:
-2x + 4 = 14

-2x = 14 - 4

-2x = 10

x = -10/2

x = -5

Answer:

x = - 5 and y = 17/3

Explanation:

- 2x + 4 = 14

- 2x = 14 - 4

- 2x = 10

x = 10/-2

x = - 5

2x + 3y = 7

2*( -5 ) + 3y = 7

- 10 + 3y = 7

3y = 7 + 10

3y = 17

y = 17/3
