Limited the maximum terms to 2 for president. The 22nd amendment was proposed March 21, 1947 and ratified February 27, 1951. This amendment limited any new president to a maximum of 2 terms. The actual wording differs, but the gist is that if a person has served as president for any reason for more than 6 years, they are not eligible to be elected president again. This amendment was proposed as a reaction to Franklin D. Roosevelt having been elected 4 times.
