Being too self centred would be the answer.
According to person-centered perspective, there are only 3 ways for use to nurture the growth of others:
- Being genuine (honestly want to help without expecting something else)
- Being accepting (and maintain non-judgemental attitude toward other's defect)
- Being emphatetic (and try to see the problems from other people's perspective)
