Sarah is older than 44.
Her age, a, minus 44 is a positive number.

a - 44 is positive

4 times the difference is 4(a - 44)
That equals 64, so we have

4(a - 44) = 64

Divide both sides by 4

a - 44 = 16

Add 44 to both sides

a = 60

Sarah's age is 60.

Check: Sarah is 60.
The difference between Sarah's age and 44 is 60 - 44 = 16
4 times that difference is 16 * 4 = 64.
Our solution is correct.
