Ilio: Please use the symbol " / " to denote division.
Subtract 1/2 lb from 5/9 lb.:
The LCD is 18.
Thus, 1/2 =9/18 and 5/9 = 10/18. 10/18 -9/18 = 1/18 lb of flour left.
