Okay, so 2/3 times 8 would be 16/3 but to simplify that you would do 16 divided by 3 and you would get 5 1/3. I hope I got this right

Answer:

5(1)/(3) cups.

Explanation:

We have been that Katie is planting a garden for her science fair project . She needs 2/3 of a cup of soil to go in 8 different pots.

To find the amount of total soil needed, we will multiply amount needed for one pot by number of total pots.

\text{Amount of total soil needed}=(2)/(3)* 8

\text{Amount of total soil needed}=(2* 8)/(3)

\text{Amount of total soil needed}=(16)/(3)

\text{Amount of total soil needed}=5(1)/(3)

Therefore, Katie needs
5(1)/(3) cups of soil.
