Help I’m crying!!! He and she are competing in a 42 mile race. He has already finished 18 miles of the race and is traveling at a constant speed of 12 miles per hour. She starts at 16 miles per hour. Equation: 18+12x= 0+ 16x (x= 4.5) will she catch up to him before the race is over?

if you plug in x into that equation then it looks like they will to me, the equations equal each other, 18+12(4.5)=0+16(4.5) equals 72=72, so I believe they would then.
