Answer:

x=6

y=-6

Explanation:

We have been given the system of equation:

-4x-2y= -12

2x+4y= -12

We need to use the elimination method

We will multiply first equation by 2 and second equation by 4 so as to remove x so that we can get one variable that is y's value equation becomes:

-8x-4y = -24 (3)

8x+16y = -48 (4)

Adding equation (3) and (4) we get:

12y = -72

y=-6

Now we will put value of y which is
y=-6 in equation 4 so as to get value of x

8x+16(-6)=-48

\Rightarrow 8x-96=-48

\Rightarrow 8x=-48+96

\Rightarrow 8x=48

\Rightarrow x=6
