How can you find asymptote for the function y=x /4 + 16/x

Note that the first term of this function has no asymptote, as there is no division by zero. On the other hand, 16/x is undefinited at x=0. Thus, the vertical asymptote is x=0.

Were you asked to consider horiz. asy. as well? This function has none, since y=x/4 continues to grow; its slope is 1/4.
