You may have variables in the denominator. A variable is just an unknown number so there is no reason for it to be unsolvable
To solve for x, isolate x my algebraic manipulation:
1/2 + 3/x = 3/4
3/x = 3/4 - 1/2
3/x = 3/4 - 2/4
3/x = 1/4
3 = 1/4 * x
3 * 4 = x
x = 12
A solution is x = 12. You may plug in 12 back to the equation to make sure it works, and it certainly does!
