2. In Mendel’s experiments, the height loci and the flower color loci were located on different chromosomes. Tall is dominant over short and purple is dominant over white. You are given two true-breeding plants (homozygous at both loci). One plant is tall and has white flowers, and the second is short is has purple flowers. These are the parental (P) generation. a. What are the genotype(s) and phenotype(s) of the first generation (F1) offspring? (You may want to draw a Punnett square to check your answer) b. Draw a Punnett square to determine the genotypes of the potential F2 offspring if two F1 plants were crossed.

Let's use the following letters to identify the genes: T = tall, t = short P = purple, p = white Parental generation = TTpp, ttPP F1 = TtPp F2 = TTPP, TTPp, TTpp, TtPP, TtPp, Ttpp, ttPP, ttPp, ttpp (can't really draw a Punnett square in this thing)

One of the autosomal loci controlling eye color in fruit flies has two alleles, one for brown eyes and the other for red eyes. Fruit flies from a true-breeding line with brown eyes were crossed with flies
