John Tyler was the tenth president of the United States, and its significance in the history of the United States, was because he became the first to reach the presidency, without the need to have run in the elections, for the death of President Harrison being Tyler the vice president, and having to assume the presidential office immediately. William Henry would have the fate of dying a little after becoming president, so Tyler was the successor. Unfortunately, Tyler could also remember himself because he did not follow the ideals of his party, because he was raised in Virginia, with aristocratic ideas: so he did not support any of the proposed reforms in political campaigns; and regionalist sentiment and ideas of separation increased in southern slave states.
