What basic fact about pain did Dr. Brand discover? Do you agree? Why or why not? (Paragraph 17)

Brand thus discovered one of the most basic--but overlooked--facts about pain: it is well-suited for this fallen world. Without pain, simple acts like shoveling snow, taking a bath, and turning a screwdriver become dangerous. They can destroy our cells unless the warning system imposes its limits on us. For someone with crippling arthritis or terminal cancer, pain rages out of control, and any relief, especially a painless world, would seem like heaven itself. But for the majority of us, the pain network performs daily protective service.

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Dr. Brand discovered that pain is useful for humans to have a limit on doing common things beyond their capabilities. If humans would not feel pain when lifting a heavyweight, this would cause them so much damage. Or if they cut with a knife and don't feel pain, probably they would not get that injure attended by medical doctors, this would create an infection and die. So Pain, in Dr. Brand' research discovered that pain is useful to communicate signals to humans.
