Exocrine glands are responsible for secreting chemicals outside the cell or outside the body. Merocrine, apocrine and holocrine are three types of exocrine secretions.
APOCRINE type of exocrine secretion involves shedding of the cytoplasm, but do not cause destruction of the cell. These glands are found in the skin and in the mammary glands.
