Marie and Calvin tried to dissolve 45 grams of KNO3 in 100 grams of water at 25oC. Only 40 grams dissolved; 5 grams settled at the bottom of the beaker. The solution is then said to be ________________ at 25oC

We can actually determine the amount of solid that will dissolve using solubility graphs. From this graphs, we can determine if the solution is unsaturated or saturated. Since in this case some solids already do not dissolve, therefore we can say that the solution is saturated.
