The purpose of classifying cisco IP routing table entries is to give details to the operation of the hierarchical structure of the routing table. A routing table entry for the highest level which is the network is also the route used for the sub nets and sub-sub nets of the network. The IP implement hierarchical network addressing and IP inter networks can have a hierarchical routing structure.
