A patient needs to be given exactly 1000 ml of a 15% (w/v) intravenous glucose solution. the stock solution is 65% (w/v). how many milliliters of the stock solution are needed to prepare the fluid for the iv bag?

To solve this problem, we use the formula:

C1 V1 = C2 V2

where C is concentration and V is volume

15% * 1000 mL = 65% * V2

V2 = 230.77 mL

So about 230.77 mL of 65% stock solution should be diluted with water to 1000 mL to make 15% solution.
