Use the quadratic equation:

x= (-b +/- √(b^2-4ac) )/(2a)

Where a = 1, b = -2 and c = 2

So, x = (2 +/- √ [ (-2)^2 - 4 (1)(2) ] ) / 2(1)

x = [2 +/- √(4 -8)] / 2

x = [2 +/- √(-4) ] / 2 = (2 +/- 2i) / 2 = 1 +/- i

So, the soluttions are x = 1 + i and x = 1 - i.

Answer: 1 +/- i
