Both Jackson and Jefferson believed in Democracy and were in favor of it. The difference between them is:

  • Jefferson feared a strong central government and because of that defended self-government. He also believed that a group of highly educated elite citizens should govern the country and also the class of farmers.
  • Jackson was in favor of a strong central government and because of that, he defended a strong executive branch. He also defended that all males should run the government, not just farmers and the elite.
