Solve the following system of linear equations by substitution and determine whether the system has one solution, no solution, or aninfinite number of solutions. If the system has one solution, find the solution.-5x + y = -171-10x + 2y = 22

The system of equations are

\begin{gathered} -5x+y=-17 \\ -10x+2y=22 \end{gathered}

Now

\begin{gathered} -5x+y=-17 \\ y=-17+5x \end{gathered}

put this value on the other equation we get

\begin{gathered} -10x+2(-17+5x)=22 \\ -10x-34+10x=22 \\ -34=22 \end{gathered}

Hence the system of the equation has no solution.
