Why do you think franklin devoted such a large chunk of his autobiography to a discussion of his failures to achieve perfect virtue?

Franklin did devote a large part of his biography to a discussion of his failures. He did this because it is through learning from one's mistakes that growth takes place. He also wanted to have others learn from the mistakes he made so they would not have to repeat them.
