The average temp at the south pole is -54°f. The average temp on the equator is 92°f. How much warmer is the average temp on the equator than at the south pole?

The answer to this question would just be the distance between -54 and 92. The easiest way to solve this would be with absolute value. If you have questions about what that means let me know.
|-54|+92=t
54+92=t
146=t
The average temp in the equator is 146 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the average temperature in the south pole

because 1 number is negative and 1 is positive, add the 2 numbers together to find the difference

54 +92 = 146

so the equator is 146 degrees warmer
