Manuel earns $400 a week plus a 3% commission on everything he sells. Write and solve an inequality to determine how much he must sell to have a weekly income of at least $700. Interpret the solution.

Answer:

400 + 0.03x ≥ 700.

0.03x ≥ 300.

Explanation:

write the first equation shown above first, the subtract 400 from 400 and 400 from 700. never use 0 later on in your answer! 700 - 400 = 300. write the second equation. after writing the second equation, divide 0.03x by 0.003 and 300 by 0.03. 300 divided by 0.03 = 10,000. manuel must sell $10.000. i hope this helps! i will show a picture of my work to help you understand it easier. <3

Let Manuel’s sales be S then to have a weekly income of at least $700 we have 400+0.03S≥700.
0.03S≥300, S≥300/0.03, S≥30000/3, S≥$10,000. His sales must be at least $10,000.
