B. 1.08mL

1 lb = 2.2 kg

5 lb = 2.27 kg

2.27kg × 12mg = 27.24 mg

Divide 27.42 mg by 2.5 = 10.896mg

Now change the mg to mL

10.896 ÷ 10 = 1.0896

Answer:

The 2.5% thiopental need to draw up is B. 1.08mL.

Explanation:

First we have to know how much thiopental needs the cat, for this we have multiply the concentration (12 mg/kg) by the weight of the cat in kg, this is:

5lb*(0.454kg)/(1lb) =2.27kg

Now we can calculate how much thiopental the cat needs for its weight:

(12mg)/(kg) *2.27kg=27.24mg

Having this and the concentration of the medicament we can calculate the volume that it is needed to be supplied to the cat:

2.5perc=(2.5g)/(100mL)=(2,500mg)/(100mL)

27.24/(2,500mg)/(100mL)=1.0896mL

The 2.5% thiopental need to draw up is B. 1.08mL.
