Solving two-step inequalities is much like solving two-step equations. Use

inverse operations to
solve each of the following inequalities.
5x + 8.5 > - 10.3
2x - 10 < 80

Answer:

1) x>-3.76 2) x<45

Explanation:

1) 5x+8.5>-10.3

Isolate the variable

Combine like terms/ subtract 8.5 from both sides

5x>-18.8

Divide by sides by 5

x>-3.76

Remember, if we were dividing or multiplying by a negative number, we would switch the inequality sign, but here we do not.

2) 2x-10<80

Isolate the variable

Combine like terms/ add 10 to both sides

2x<90

Divide both sides by 2

x<45
