It is not exponential because it is f(x)= x-3.141. It is a slope-intercept formula. An exponential formula is y=a^x .

The given function is,

f(x)= x - 3.141

Replacing f(x) by y,in the above equation

y = x - 3.141

Comparing, with slope intercept form of line,→ y = m x + c

→As, it is a linear function in two variables,having slope 1, and,

Y intercept = -3.141

The exponential function can be described by the rule:

f(x)=
m^x, where m is a real number , Domain of m is all real number , m∈ [-∞,∞].

and x is a variable, whose domain is, -∞≤x≤∞.

The exponential function is not defined when, m=0 as well as , x=0.
