What factors help to explain the high rate of emigration from some Caribbean islands?

A greater demand for labour in developed markets caused large amounts of migration from the Caribbean Islands. A chance to have constant steady income elsewhere created a desire to leave in order to support family when jobs were scarce in their own Islands.
