Canonization of Hildegard of Bingen's work was made impossible in the Middle Ages because she was thought to be a heretic. When Hildegard of Bingen died, the proof was found that she did not believe the religious dogma of the period. The heretical revelation kept her work from the Cannon through the Middle Ages.
