Her husband, a short balding man, held her arm, turned her around, and pulled her away. Together they were returning to the granite house. A feeling of misery filled my chest, similar to how I had felt when my first boyfriend left me for another girl. Things turned misty before my eyes, and I found myself in tears. in the above passage from the story, what tone do the underlined words create? informal happy sad formal

According to this paragraphs and as the words are not marked, I would be said that the tone of this excerpt is sad and informal. It could be considered sad because of her personal experience and how she felt when seeing that situation. And informal because of the choice of words and the simple grammatical structure used.
